Product Description : Created by William Valentine Wright in 1860, Wright's Traditional Soap, or Wright's Coal Tar Soap, is a popular brand of antiseptic soap that is designed to thoroughly cleanse the skin. It is orange in color. For over 130 years, Wright's Coal Tar Soap was a popular brand of household soap. It can still be bought in supermarkets and chemists worldwide. It was developed by William Valentine Wright in 1866 from "liquor carbonis detergens", the liquid by-product of the distillation of coal to make coke. The liquid was made into an antiseptic soap for the treatment of skin diseases. Please note that this soap no longer contains coal tar, but is coal tar fragranced. On the "Whiff Scale" this is way up there, has a very pleasant smell.
